21.5 The Ultimate Cure for High Blood Lipids Without Drugs
21.1 What exactly is blood lipids? What is the relationship between fat and cholesterol?
Blood lipids are the fat in the blood, and high blood lipids are the excess fat in the blood.
Many people do not know what the composition of fat is, let alone the relationship between fat and cholesterol, and even some doctors in hospitals are confused. I am now sharing it with you in very simplified language.
Fat is triglyceride.
Fat is one of the components that make up cholesterol.
Cholesterol = HDL cholesterol + LDL cholesterol + Triglyceride (fat)
HDL = High-density Lipoprotein
LDL = Low-density Lipoprotein
HDL cholesterol = “good” cholesterol
LDL cholesterol = “bad” cholesterol
Scoring criteria for cholesterol:
Total Cholesterol score = HDL cholesterol + LDL cholesterol + 20% of triglyceride (fat) level
Triglyceride is the most common type of fat in the body. Normal triglyceride levels vary by age and sex. A high triglyceride level combined with low HDL cholesterol or high LDL cholesterol is associated with atherosclerosis, the buildup of fatty deposits in artery walls that increases the risk for heart attack and stroke.
To summarize,
Blood lipids are the fat in the blood, and high blood lipids are the excess fat in the blood.
Because fat is one of the components that make up cholesterol, sometimes blood lipids also refer to cholesterol in the blood, and sometimes high blood lipids also refer to high cholesterol in the blood.
